A slightly belated congratulations to all the winners of the Ditmar Awards, presented on Sunday evening in Melbourne as part of the Australian Natcon, Continuum. We were absolutely chuffed to see Kate Forsyth’s wonderful book The Rebirth of Rapunzel win the William Atheling Jr Award for Criticism and Review, and Cat Sparks take home the Best Short Story prize for “No Fat Chicks” from In Your Face, alongside many other fantastic winners.
Big congratulations as well to the Snapshot 2016 team for winning Best Fan Publication in Any Medium! This makes a double for Snapshot with the Tin Duck Award too. Well done to everyone involved!
2016 Australian SF Snapshot, Greg Chapman, Tehani Croft, Tsana Dolichva, Marisol Dunham, Elizabeth Fitzgerald, Stephanie Gunn, Ju Landéesse, David McDonald, Belle McQuattie, Matthew Morrison, Alex Pierce, Rivqa Rafael, Tansy Rayner Roberts, Helen Stubbs, Katharine Stubbs and Matthew Summers.
We were very happy to send the final files for our forthcoming publication, The Rebirth of Rapunzel: A Mythic Biography of the Maiden in the Tower by Kate Forsyth, off to the printer this evening, and would now like to share the beautiful cover with you. Kathleen Jennings has once again done an outstanding job in creating distinctive and unique design elements for a stunning cover!
The book will be launched at Contact in Brisbane on the Easter weekend, and will be available in hardcover and ebook. Keep an eye out for a promo giveaway soon!
The Aurealis Awards shortlists were announced overnight, and we’re so delighted to see Phantazein appearing in the Best Anthology category, along with “Ghost of Hephaestus” by Charlotte Nash (from Phantazein) getting a nod on the Best Fantasy Short Story ballot! Congratulations Charlotte, and to all the nominees! Don’t forget you can get a free Phantazein chapbook which contains Charlotte’s story, and a coupon for a half price discount on the ebook, right here, for a limited time.
I’m also completely over the moon that my launch order of Cranky Ladies of History arrived yesterday! So many beautiful books (I may have overused my apostrophes on social media yesterday, such was my excitement) 🙂 But they are so very pretty, and I cannot wait for people to start getting their hands on these gorgeous things. We have sent out all the Pozible hardcover rewards now, as well as contributor copies, and we’d love you to tweet us a picture of yours when it arrives – tag it #mycrankyladies !
The Cranky Ladies giveaway ends in about 10 hours (I’m also just a little bit ecstatic to see the number of entries – at least double of any Goodreads giveaway we’ve ever done before) – enter now!
