The pretty little book is at the printer!

I have just uploaded the files for Angela Slatter’s The Tallow-Wife to my printer – always super exciting! Because it’s a hardcover production, printing times are a little longer than on paperbacks, so we’re now on the countdown to printing deadlines.

If you want to collect your copy at Conflux, for the discounted price of AUD$35.00, you absolutely MUST pre-order now! While we will have a small amount of unallocated stock at the convention, we can make no guarantees of how long they will last, so reserve your exclusive copy now (to be signed on site by the author!). I will be placing the stock order for Conflux early in September, so don’t miss out.

If you are not attending the convention (interstate or overseas), we will be dealing with those orders a bit differently, so you do have a little more time. However, the book is ONLY available during this window between now and Conflux, and will not be available for general sale, so if you want it, hit that pre-order button now!

Finalists in the Aurealis Awards!

Super excited to discover yesterday that we have FOUR shortlistings for In Your Face in the 2016 Aurealis Awards! Huge congratulations to Thoraiya Dyer, Claire McKenna and Shauna O’Meara on their short story shortlistings in the Fantasy, Science Fiction and Young Adult categories, respectively, and to ALL the contributors, as the book itself is also shortlisted for Best Anthology!

We are in excellent company on the shortlists – well done to all the creators recognised this year, it’s a wonderful list.

 

Cranky Ladies wins at the 2016 ACT Writing and Publishing Awards!

9780992553456It was very exciting to find out last night that Cranky Ladies of History won the Fiction category at the 2016 ACT Writing and Publishing Awards, announced at a special event at the Gorman Arts Centre in Canberra. A huge thanks to contributor Barbara Robson who was kind enough to be our representative on the night, as neither Tehani nor Tansy could be there. It was wonderful that one of the authors could collect the award on behalf of us all!

We would like to thank the judges, the ACT Writers Centre and the awards supporter Dymocks Belconnen, ACT for this wonderful opportunity – we are so delighted to be the award recipients, amid excellent company. A huge shout out to the many awesome backers of the Pozible crowdfunding campaign back in 2014, who helped make the book possible, and to Arts Tasmania’s Crowbar grant, of which we were the inaugural recipients. Thank you to everyone who has read and reviewed the book – we love you all! And of course, thanks to Kathleen Jennings for the gorgeous cover and illustrations, Amanda Rainey for the beautiful design, and most especially to our amazing contributors, without whom this wonderful and important book could not exist.

In Your Face Launch

At 3pm on Saturday 17 September, a wild bunch of Canberra speculative fiction lovers (and some ring-ins from interstate) packed out A Bite To Eat in Chifley for the official launch of the confronting, challenging anthology In Your Face. The publisher and several authors took centre stage to talk a bit about the book and their individual stories, and bitey cakes and drinks were enjoyed by all.

A huge thanks to everyone who participated in the launch – it was loads of fun (if a bit noisy in the venue) and a wonderful way to recognise the hard work of everyone involved. Especial gratitude to Cat Sparks for photographing the event, and as always, to the authors who have permitted me to publish their amazing work, to SpecFaction NSW for the initial seed funding, and to all the Pozible supporters who helped bring the book to life, as well as Amanda Rainey for the dramatic cover, and Elizabeth, Matthew and Katharine for proofing. You’re all awesome and the book could not be what it is without you.
